Report Prepared by Hubert Dalin Mechanical]]>http://www.jytkmce.net/blog/index.php?entry=entry070126-2226222007-01-26T00:00:00Z2007-01-26T00:00:00ZCRENTE' FAREWELL CRENTE' is the portuguese word for born-again.The message was about the need of being born-again in spirit,about how once Christ enters our hearts, our lives get transformed, how much we need to know and seek God and depend on him rather than on our own capabilities;that there is still hope if we use this opportunity to open ourselves to Christ even if we have lost out on all the past years.A beautiful skit was presented by the first year students joseph, jerin, melvin, george, roby, danish, shalini, anu, sigma, susannah-narrated by alex).The skit was co-written by jomes and ginimol(both 2nd yrs).dalin,simi,tessy took care of decorations. Riya, divya, threseama wrote bible verses on gifts and wrapped them with their affections for the seniors(all are 2nd yr students).Justin, a first year student performed the actions of the song 'little by little' that was sung by rajwin chettan.Rajwin chettan also sang the theme song -'A man named Nicodemus'.
Constantine Sir commenting on a poster showing a cut down tree stump with a tender shoot springing up from it,said that it reminded him that we all are part of the mother church wherever we may be and whatever capacities we may be working in.He stressed that we must always keep in mind that we are part of the church of Christ and repeatedly glorified the church. He reminded us that we are brand ambassodors.He wound up by wishing all success in life to those passing out. We gradually went into a session of praise and worship led by rajwin chettan and supportedby philip,subin alexander,linson,subin george and subin p. george.The next 15-20 minutes were spent in praise and worship.In the next few moments we gave away gifts to our seniors giving them a chance simultaneously to speak.Some of those who spoke up described how they were overwhelmed by the love they were experiencing,about how they had been helped by being in the prayer group especially the prayer support that was extended to them in their hour of need.Reena chechi expressed her gratitude to God by explaining how He had transformed her through the group.Anoop chettan and Jojo chettan(both from perumon engg. college) also descibed how marvelously God had blessed them by making them a part of this family.They came even though they had exams starting the very next day.Four years of life were summed up rather beautifuly by our seniors. George Achen lit up the candles held by the seniors who in turn then passed on the light to us as a final act of giving the responsibilities of the group into our hands.We then had a prayer of blessing and a short yet deeply moving message by George Achen.We are greatly indebted to Achen who has been an active and vocal supporter of us as he never misses a chance to praise the group.And so also to our dear Sisters who never stop praying for us and always help us in every possible manner.
P.A.Jose chettan also shared his thoughts through a short message.It was so nice of him to come and talk to the seniors.Praveen Jomi chettan('01 pass out) in his pleasant demeanor shared his wonderful insights.His sharing was both touchy as well as funny.And most importantly he talked about the pass out life that will be definitely useful for the seniors.He mentally prepared them for the new life they are about to face.His message was resplendent with the grace of our Master.
Linson and Elizabeth who were masters of ceremony,suggested singing the family song.By this time everyone was practically able to sense the love of Christ that runs through the veins of this prayer family and it was made clear by the way in which all took part in singing the song.It was followed by another song 'Bind us together Lord'.The lusty voices made the room vibrant and it felt as all were radiating pure love from their hearts.We dispersed with heavy hearts and a hope that we would gather once again during the December Family Gathering.The day ended with a photo session.Many snaps were taken to keep the memories of this day fresh for ever. But what technology can compare with the impressions that were engraved on our hearts,impressions for only death to erase.May many be born-again in Christ never to die,and recieve the promised eternal life. 'For i am conviced that neither death nor life,neither angels nor demons,neither the present nor the future,nor any powers,neither height nor depth,nor anything else in all creation,will ever be able to seperate us from the love of God that is in Jesus Christ our Lord' Rom 8:38,39

We reached there by 11. Along the way , the houses that were destroyed could still be seen. Despite all media reports, it was kind of hard to believe the force of the impact. The point was driven home when we saw houses left standing without roofs , half the walls gone & shutters pried open. Azhekkal was the worst hit in kollam district & the govt. has now put up a sea wall there.
All of us were vague about what to do at the camp- maybe we could split into groups & go to the houses to hear them out. But once we reached there, all that didn't matter-Jose chettan assigned us jobs. Some went off to wash the utensils, some to help in the kitchen, some to fold & bundle-up the donated clothes, some to help with the office work & the remaining to clean toilets.
The QSS camp is at a school premise. The school building now doubles up as kitchen & medical centre. A church next to it houses the class room for the kids. Two huge tents were put up for the families. It has been 2 months since the camps were put up & the dedication of the brothers, sisters & other volunteers working there is humbling. Two nuns from Missionaries of Charity had also pitched in.
Later on, the campmates shared their woes with us. In Jose chettan's words, they were now in an emotionally frozen state -- no complaints, no tears, no bitterness; just mute acceptance of the situation. That could be felt even when they were recounting the facts. Azhekkal is a small island & the related how they were trapped before they could escape to the mainland. During the day, most of the campmates wander around their destroyed homes in vacant thought & return to the tents at night. Others have dared to think beyond their ill-fate; when we played with the children, they too joined in the laughter. They even had a word of advise for us to study well & to remember them in our prayers. Oblivious to the anxieties of their parents, the children were all gaily chatting & running around. But they still feared the sea.
We had lunch at the camp & also stayed for tea. After tea, by 4 , we left the camp with the kids running behind our bus in smiles & waves. It was a touching experience & all of us are rooting for another day here soon.

So we prayed diligently. God answered and we started getting ideas, like christening the event as- The Call (to live for and serve the Lord, inspired by the 1st chapter from the book of Daniel) '04, dates, etc. Our seniors also chipped in with their suggestions. Elizabeth and Linson (2nd yr.) agreed to intercede all along while the rest of us joined them intermittently.
The day arrived and the people arrived. They were welcomed with cards( designed by Rajwin chettan) quoting Bible verses- each one taken as a message. Our sisters( 1st, 2nd,3rd yrs) labored to prepared them before the event took off. Reena chechi and Jincy chechi guided us with their experience and also took the entire load of decoration. It was a wonderful, happy time together, everyone eagerly doing their bit.
Constantine Sir, late Bose Sir, Rosy teacher, Danny brother, Jose chettan, were our guests and were later invited by Philip and Toby (MC's) to share their thoughts. Rubina Sr. also shared a nice little message. Mathew chettan ('02 Archi. pass out) also put in words his vivid memories of the 7 generations he has worked with, as a faithful servant of our Lord Jesus Christ, esp. this one who were like his own children and whom his own batch had led to Jesus.
Rajwin chettan teamed with Neetha chechi, Lisha chechi and Leena chechi and performed the number-'We are one, you and I.', from an animated movie. Sreejith (1st yr.) and Subin Alexander (2nd yr) backed them with instruments. They had practiced hard for this day.
A skit, written by Jinu and Abyson, followed and was acted out by the 1st and 2nd yrs. It was about two boys-one a believer and the other a non-believer and how the latter comes to hear his call and accept Jesus as his savior after certain developments, besides being influenced by the life of the former. It was appreciated by everyone with their claps- and their laughters. The moments that followed have been etched forever in our memories, for it was then that we gave gifts (books) to our seniors, as tokens of our love for them. Almost all of them, lost in nostalgia, shared with us their experiences during their 4 yrs of stay here-4 precious yrs. of their lives. We were touched deeply upon hearing those who had been able to come to this group just a few times, yet had got lasting impression about the wonderful love of our Savior.
We were almost in tears as the blessing part came up, when our seniors handed us lighted candles (with the backing of the song & instruments "The Light of the World, Salt of the Earth" the theme song of the World Youth Day 2002, Canada), as a symbol of passing the baton and then while we were kneeled, blessed us whole heartedly, as Isaac had blessed his children that became the nation of Israel. We returned the favour by blessing them in the same manner. Then we formed a big circle, held each others hands and sang the 'family song', 'we are one you and I' and then 'bind us together Lord'. No one wanted to let go. We were frightened to think that we would have to leave with a heavy heart. But the photo- session that followed dismissed convincingly all such notions, as they were moments of great joy, moments to be cherished, when everyone laughed and shared light moments with every other member of the family. Time just flew by and soon it was time to go. We didn't want to. But then at some point of time everyone has to move on with life- we were no exception. We moved on- with Jesus in our hearts.
WE ARE ONE, YOU AND I, WE ARE LIKE THE EARTH AND SKY, ONE 'FAMILY' UNDER THE 'S0N'.
